In lots of ways, Bali reminded me of other third-world countries that I’ve visited. The markets sold produce, crafts, and textiles; peasants carried loads on their heads; roads were extremely varied in quality, etc. In contrast, Singapore was a very different place, not just from Bali, but from anywhere I’ve been*.
